HUNTER'S STORY

Hunter was born on April 29, 2001. He was one of the last ones born of a litter of
11 pups. None of his other littermates survived. Mommie was almost lost as well at the time. She seemed to get better for a while, but developed the toxins again in her next heat and passed on 10-05-01.

Hunter was tube fed from the beginning and later bottle fed. We couldn't let him nurse on mommie, because her milk was bad. Dolly (mommie) couldn't understand why we would not let her be with her baby and take care of him. When I did let her lay by him she would immediately lay on her side and pull him toward her as if to say, I'm here my love.
That's the photo above of mommie wanting to take care of her baby. She even crawled into the cat size crate I was keeping him in (and got stuck) but managed to turn around and lay down in it to be there for him.
She was a wonderful mother.

AS HE GREW..

Hunter at 12 weeks.
And to add to his little struggle to be here......at 8 weeks he broke his right back leg!! He slipped off the couch and only fell a foot and a half!!
Then on top of that, the vet, (not my regular one) wrapped his leg incorrectly and hyperextended the back leg!
My Vet and I worked with his little leg and with the physical therapy that my brave little Hunter let me do, his leg is back to normal.

It didn't break his little spirit though, He's a rompin' happy little guy!!
